今野 では、7割グリーンに乗せられる番手とその飛距離は?
ケン 7番アイアンかなぁ。飛距離は平均したら140ヤードかな。
今野 合計360ヤードですね。その距離をスコアカードに照らし合わせて、こう計算してみてください。

今野 パーが獲れるホールは、いくつでした?
ケン 10個。
今野 それにセカンド以降は7割以上の確率で乗る番手を選んでいるので、0・7を掛けます。もし、パーが獲れるホールに0・7を掛けて小数点以下が出たら四捨五入してください。ケンさんの場合は、ちょうど10なので7。パーが獲れる可能性が高いホールは7つで、ほかのホールはボギーとなるので、ケンさんの実力に合ったマイイーブンパーは83になります!

今野 パー5でドライバー+7番アイアンの平均飛距離を2倍にしているのは、7割の確率を2回打てばいい。つまり、2打目はなんだかんだ200ヤード以上を打たなくてもよくて、組み立て次第でなんとでもなる。パー5のセカンド以降はそれだけ許容範囲が広いってことを示しているんですよ。

ケン でもさ、オレぐらいの飛距離だったら100近く打つ人でも出せるでしょ。それでも83で回れるの?
今野 平均飛距離や確率を過信せず正しく判断できれば、83を出す実力はあるってことです。でも、100叩きの人は大いにして平均したら飛距離が落ちるし、7割の確率で乗る番手も下がるので、パーが獲れる可能性の高いホールが少なくなります。
ケン たとえばドライバーが180で、7割がPWで100だとしたら足して280ヤード……。パーが獲れるホールはひとつもないね。
今野 そういう人は、ドライバーは200ヤード以上、7割乗るのもなるべく長い番手にするスキルアップが必要です。でも、100切りだったら半分ダボで半分ボギーなら達成ですよ。

今野 パー4は14ホール、パー3、5は4ホールずつ、距離が長い順にダボでOKを9つ、ボギーでOKを9つ決める。スコアカードどおりのパーではなく、ダボでいいパー4は4オンがパーオン。6打であがればOKと思ってプレーすればいいんです。
ケン どんなホールが難しいとか判断できる力もまだ身についていないから、距離で決めるのは簡単でいいね。
今野 はい。何が難しいかを見抜く力もつけてほしいですけどね。で、話は戻ってケンさんの場合ですが、マイイーブンパーは妥当な線でだいたい10オーバーでいいはずでしたよね。
ケン そうね。出だしの1、2番をダボ、ボギーでつまづいてしまって、いきなり苦しいスタートだった。
今野 それもマイイーブンパーの計算式で「1番はボギーOKのホール」としていればダボは避けられたかもしれない。2番でパーが獲れなくても「10ホールをパーの予定でも、確率は7割だから10ホール中3ホールのボギーは想定内」と思ってプレーすれば、もっとスコアメイクできたはずです。
ケン こうやって距離的にボギーになるホールを見ると、しっかりそこで叩いているね。たしかに「願わくばバーディ、悪くてもパーは絶対!」でプレーしてたわ。あがり2ホールなんてパー・パーならまだ86であがれると思って、攻めた結果のダボ・トリだった……
今野 パーが獲れないとジャッジされたホールは、100切りを目指す人と一緒ですよ。攻めのゴルフはハイリスク・ハイリターン。失敗すれば過酷なリターンが待っているので、マイパーどおりにパーよりボギーでいい、と割り切ってプレーすればトータルが変わってきます。
ケン はじめて行くコースでも、実力的に合ったトータルスコアとボギーでいいホールを決められるマイイーブンパー。いいね!
今野 コースを知っていて「あのホールは短いけど難しい」とわかっていれば、そのホールをボギー設定にしてもいいですよ。トータルもホールごとも規定のパーにとらわれず、自分の腕前とコースに合ったパーを目標にしてプレーしてみてください。計画性あるプレーは大叩きを防ぐと同時に、予定より少ないスコアであがれるマイアンダーのご褒美もきますよ。
